Can a single person be Salafi in creed and Ikhwan in methodology?

The questioner : To what extent is it correct to say that so-and-so is Salafi in creed but follows the methodology of the Ikhwan? Is the methodology not part of the creed? And was this division known among the Salaf, such that a man was found to be Salafi in belief but not Salafi in methodology?

The Shaykh : They do not separate, my brother, and it is not possible for someone to be both Ikhwan and Salafi. Rather, he will be Salafi in some aspects and Ikhwan in others, or Ikhwan in some aspects and Salafi in others. As for being Salafi in the manner of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), combining the two is impossible. The Muslim Brothers are callers! So, to what do they call? Do they call to the call of the righteous Salaf? That is, if we imagine a Salafi Ikhwan, is he calling to the Salafi call? The answer is no. Therefore, he is not Salafi, but in one aspect he is, and in another aspect he is not.

The questioner : I called you on the phone and asked, and you told me: Do not be concerned with those who mix the Salafi methodology with the Ikhwan methodology, for they become neither Salafi nor Ikhwan!
