What is the ruling on celebrating festivals other than those of the Muslims?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Not long ago, we did not hear of the permissibility of Christmas or the permissibility of songs, and we did not see some of the preachers mixing with women, nor did we hear of incitement and rebellion against the rulers. But in these days, we have heard all of that, and people have become bold in committing sins. Is there any guidance, Your Excellency, the Shaykh?

Answer:
Answer: This is a mistake, without doubt, this is a mistake. Christmas is a religious innovation (bid'ah). There is no festival except 'Id al-Adha and 'Id al-Fitr. These are the festivals of Islam; there are no other festivals for the Muslim. Friday is the weekly festival. The weekly festival is Friday. The annual festivals are 'Id al-Fitr and 'Id al-Adha. There are no other festivals in Islam. No birthdays, no anniversaries; they are all from falsehood. But if you were doing this previously out of ignorance, and now you have learned the truth, then it is obligatory for you—praise be to Allah—to take hold of the truth and leave what was done previously, and may Allah pardon it.
