Answer: Both are forbidden. It is not permissible to trim it or shave it. The requirement is to let it grow. Let the beards grow, honor the beards, and let the beards grow. This is not saving money; this is an insult to it. And the strange thing is that Satan tempts the sons of Adam regarding the beard; this is the hardest thing for them. This beard, although it is beauty for them, although it is the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and although it is a distinguishing mark between women and men, Satan tempts them. Just as he tempts women to remove their eyebrows or cut them, or to mess with them, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that. Satan wants them to disobey the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Otherwise, all of this is part of their beauty and adornment.
