Does affirming the spherical shape of the earth conflict with the statement of the exaltedness of Allah the Exalted?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Here is a question regarding creed: The earth is spherical in shape, so wherever a person faces, the sky is above him. This proves that all directions are attributed as sky... Does this conflict with affirming the attribute of being above for Allah the Exalted?

The Shaykh : Rather, this confirms the question itself. It clarifies that the earth being spherical and the sky surrounding it means that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is also encompassing all of that, and He is encompassing of all things. So there is no problem in this. In fact, the problem arises with those who imagine that the earth is a completely flat surface. In that case, it is said that there is an "above" and a "below." But regarding the spherical earth, the "above" is the entire surface of the earth, while the "below" is the center of the sphere. Therefore, the reality is that the affirmation of this verse in the present age, scientifically affirming that the earth is spherical, supports... I hesitate to say "supports," because the Shari'ah, in the form of the Qur'an and Sunnah, does not need what supports it. Rather, it is permissible to say that it confirms what came in the Book and the Sunnah that Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) has the attribute of being above all His creations.
