The Sphericity of the Earth

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The following message was sent to the program from Kenya by our brother, the student Ibrahim Muhammad. Our brother says: I listened to the program "Light on the Path" and benefited greatly from it, and I wanted to send you these questions because their topics confused me greatly.
First question: Is the earth spherical or flat?
Answer: The earth is spherical according to the people of knowledge. Ibn Hazm and a group of others have reported the scholarly consensus that it is spherical, meaning: that its parts are joined together, rounded like a ball. But Allah spread its upper surface for us, and He placed in it the firmly fixed mountains, and He placed in it the animals and the seas as a mercy for us. For this reason He said:
And at the earth - how it is spread out?وَإِلَى الأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
[Al-Ghashiyah: 20]. So its surface is flat for us so that people can live on it and feel secure on it. Its being spherical does not prevent its surface from being flat, because when a large, great thing is flattened, it has a wide back.
Yes.
