Question:
When is a man excused for ignorance, or in matters of creed, or in the rulings of Islamic law?

Answer:
Answer: A person is excused due to ignorance if he is in a remote area where nothing reaches him, a place that is cut off from everything, where he does not hear from the media, and does not hear anything. This person is excused due to ignorance; this is the first case. The second case is matters that are obscure and require explanation and clarification, and he does not know the clarification and explanation. He should ask the scholars. He said—Exalted and Majestic is He: {So ask the people of knowledge if you do not know}. Thus, ignorance is removed from him by asking, and he should not remain saying: I am ignorant and excused due to ignorance, while there are scholars available.
