The Trials Are Among the Signs of the Hour

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
It is observed in this time that there is an abundance of trials, incidents, and envy. Is this among the signs of the Hour?

Answer:
Answer: Without a doubt, the trials are among the signs of the Hour—so there is no power and no strength except with Allah. Therefore, the Muslim should ask Allah for safety from the trials. If they occur, he should not participate in them; rather, he should distance himself from them and occupy himself with worship. Worship during times of turmoil is like migration to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), as mentioned in the hadith. One should occupy himself with worship and refrain from entering into the trials or participating in them, and should distance himself from them. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned to Hudhayfah what would happen regarding the trials and the presence of callers to them—callers at the gates of Hell—he said: “What do you advise me to do if I encounter that, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “You should stick to the congregation of the Muslims and their imam.” This is among the greatest things that protect one from the trials: that the Muslim joins the congregation of the Muslims and the imam of the Muslims. He said: “O Messenger of Allah, what if they have no congregation and no imam?” He said: “Then separate yourself from all those groups, even if you have to bite the root of a tree until death comes to you while you are upon that.”
