Ruling on Singling Out the Month of Rajab for Fasting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q469: The questioner asks: What is the ruling on singling out the month of Rajab for fasting?
A469: There is no specific evidence regarding Rajab concerning any particular acts of worship, neither fasting nor prayer nor 'Umrah, nor anything specific to Rajab. It is not established that there is a specific act of worship unique to Rajab. Those who single it out for acts of worship are innovators; because they have introduced into the religion what is not part of it, and neither Allah nor His Messenger prescribed any worship in it: no specific worship, no 'Umrah, no sacrifice, no specific night prayer, and no specific fasting. Rather, Rajab is like the other months; it is a sacred month because it is one of the four sacred months. As for singling it out for worship to the exclusion of others, this is from religious innovations.
