Singling out the month of Rajab for worship

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Is it true that the month of Rajab is singled out for a specific or particular act of worship? We ask you to inform us, as this matter is confusing to us. Is it also singled out or designated for an 'Umrah or a visit to the Prophet's Mosque during it?

Answer: The month of Rajab is like the other months; it is not designated for a specific act of worship to the exclusion of the other months, because it is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he designated it for any specific prayer, fasting, 'Umrah, sacrifice, or anything else. These matters were practiced in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, and Islam abrogated them. Thus, the month of Rajab is like the other months; it is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he designated it for any specific act of worship. Whoever innovates an act of worship in it and singles it out for that, he becomes an innovator because he has introduced into the religion what is not part of it. Acts of worship are based on divine legislation, and one does not undertake any of them unless he has
evidence from the Book and the Sunnah.
No reliable evidence has been transmitted regarding the designation of the month of Rajab, and everything that has been transmitted is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). In fact, the Companions used to prohibit it and warn against fasting specifically in Rajab. As for a person who has a regular prayer he continues to perform, or a regular fast he continues to observe, there is no harm in that, because Rajab is like the other months and is included by extension. However, to single out the month of Rajab for a standalone act of worship to the exclusion of the other months is among the forbidden religious innovations for which a person is sinful and receives no reward.
