The Ruling on Being Lax in Matters of Religion
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q303: The questioner says: Some people are lax in matters of religion. Do you have a word, O honorable Shaykh, on this topic?
A303: There is no doubt that among people there are those who are lax in religion, those who are lazy, and those who attack the religion, accusing it of being a religion of misguidance and a strict religion. But no heed should be taken of all these people. Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said:, and He the Exalted said: [Al-Bayyinah 98:5]. And this religion is the religion of Ibrahim
(peace and blessings be upon him), which our Prophet and we were commanded to follow. There is no doubt that this religion will have enemies, but praise be to Allah, this religion will not be lost. Rather, it is the servant who does not hold fast to it who loses himself. As for the religion itself, Allah preserves it, and preserves its people and its awliya (close friends of Allah). So there is no fear for it from those who are lax in it or diminish it. There is no fear for this religion; rather, the fear is for the person himself if he is lax in it or abandons it, for he will perish and lose out.
