The Ruling on Shortening and Combining Prayers Before Traveling

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q494: The questioner says: On one day, I intended to travel, and it was the time for the 'Asr prayer. I prayed the Zuhr and 'Asr prayers together as a combined prayer at home, and then I traveled that day?
A494: Shortening and combining are among the dispensations for travel, but only after you have begun your journey. As long as you are in your home or in the town, you remain under the ruling of residents, so you do not combine or shorten; rather, you pray each prayer in full in its proper time. Shortening and combining, and the dispensations of travel, begin when you leave the town or the inhabited area of the town. If you combined and shortened in your home, you must repeat the prayer you shortened and the prayer you combined before you begin your journey.
