The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 16875 )
Q4: What are the animals that are not eligible for sacrifice ?
A4: The udhiyah (sacrifice) is taken from livestock, which are: camels, cattle, and sheep. It is required that they be free from defects, such as blindness, illness, emaciation, or lameness. For sheep, only those that have reached six months of age are acceptable; for goats, only those that have reached one year; for cattle, only those that have reached two years; and for camels, only those that have reached five years. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
