Sacrificing more than one animal

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 21242 )
Q: For many years, up until last year, I would slaughter eight sacrificial animals for my father, my paternal grandparents, and my aunts, while my sons and daughters were still with me. Now, praise be to Allah, my sons and daughters have married, and I have no one to distribute and divide them. These sacrifices are a donation from me, but among them is one for my paternal grandfather and one for my paternal grandmother. My grandfather—may Allah have mercy on them all—had instructed my father to do this from the proceeds of the fruit of a date palm that used to bear fruit. However, for about 45 years, the palm has been neglected due to a lack of water, and it has stopped bearing fruit and has dried up. My question to your eminence is: What is the correct ruling regarding these sacrifices? I have looked for an association to which I could hand over these sacrifices after slaughtering them, so that their meat could be distributed to the
needy, but I have not found one. I do not wish to leave off these sacrifices as long as I am alive. Please issue a ruling for us, may Allah reward you with good and make your knowledge beneficial.

A: It is prescribed for a person to slaughter a sacrificial animal for himself and his family, both the living and the deceased. If he sacrifices more than one, there is no harm in that. It is better that he eats from it, gives it as a gift, and donates it to the poor and needy, and they are present. However, a person must be careful in his selection. As for what you mentioned regarding the bequest, you must consult the Sharia court to look into it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
