The first question of Fatwa number ( 18859 )
Q1: Does a woman have to abstain during Ramadan if she becomes pure after dawn or after midday, and does she have to abstain or continue breaking her fast ; because fasting is from the rising of dawn to the setting of the sun?
A1: If a woman becomes pure from her menstruation after the time when abstention becomes obligatory – whether that is at the beginning of the day, in the middle of it, or at the end of it – then it is obligatory for her to abstain for the rest of her day; because of the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:185] the verse; and because of the sanctity of the time of fasting for the one upon whom it is obligatory, and she is one of the witnesses to the fasting by the removal of the impediment, and it is obligatory for her to make up that day; because she did not fast it completely, and fasting a part does not suffice for the whole, and Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) says: [Al-Baqarah 2:187] It is also obligatory for her to perform the full ritual bath for the purpose of performing the obligatory prayer.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it
فَمَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُAnd eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [of night]. Then complete the fast until the sunset.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
