Departure from 'Arafah a short time before sunset

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 19483 )
Q: What is the ruling for one who left 'Arafah one minute before the specified time for the Maghrib prayer, according to the time written in the calendar, knowing that the passengers in the car said that the sun had set?
A1 : The principle is that the pilgrim remains at 'Arafah on the ninth day, so he does not depart from it until he is certain of the setting of the sun, and it is not permissible for him to leave before that. The criterion is the setting of the sun. If he left it after confirming the setting of the sun, he has fulfilled what is obligatory upon him and he owes nothing in that. If he left it before the setting of the sun, or did not confirm it and did not return to it to remain there until the sun sets, or did not return even for a moment of the night, then it is obligatory upon him to sacrifice a sheep; for leaving an obligatory act of Hajj.
