If land is intended for sale, it becomes commercial

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 18745 )
Q: We have a piece of land that we want to sell to improve our living conditions, but this land has not been sold and no one has offered to buy it for about five years. Is there zakah due on this land?
A: The land that you own, if you intend to sell it, is considered commercial land. It is assessed at the beginning of each lunar year, starting from the intention to sell, and its zakah is paid based on its value at the completion of each lunar year, which is one-quarter of one-tenth. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
