Ifrad in Hajj

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 15402 )
Q: Some people say: If a person wants to perform Hajj for the first time, he must precede this Hajj with an 'Umrah or perform Hajj as a mutamatti'. If he does not do that and performs Hajj as a mufrid only, his Hajj is invalid. We ask for clarification of the correct ruling in this matter.
A : There is no doubt that 'Umrah is obligatory, but its obligation does not require that it precede the obligatory Hajj. So if a person performs Hajj in one year and 'Umrah in another year, there is no harm in that. Also, it is not required that his Hajj be as a mutamatti'. If he performs the obligatory Hajj as a qarin, a mufrid, or a mutamatti', that is sufficient, even though tamattu' is the best of the types of Hajj for one who has not brought sacrificial animals. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
