Discussion of the manner of performing Hajj ifrad and which is better: ifrad or qiran.

The Shaykh : He says, "ifrad" means entering the state of ihram for Hajj alone. It has only one form, just as tamattu' has only one form. What is it? It is entering the state of ihram for Hajj alone, saying only, "Labbaik Hajjan." Which is better, ifrad or qiran? If one brings sacrificial animals, there is no doubt that qiran is better. Likewise, if one does not bring sacrificial animals, qiran is better because it involves two pilgrimages, unlike ifrad. Is it a condition in ifrad to enter the state of ihram for 'Umrah afterwards? No, it is not a condition. If one performs Hajj alone, it is the same whether one performs 'Umrah afterwards or not. What is found in some books of rituals regarding entering the state of ihram for Hajj alone and then performing 'Umrah afterwards is based on the permissibility of 'Umrah after Hajj, and on people who are unable to reach the House, so they perform 'Umrah after Hajj to fulfill what? To fulfill the obligatory act. 'Umrah after Hajj is not prescribed, as has been mentioned to us previously, or as will come, if Allah wills. So now, qiran has three forms: tamattu' has one form, and ifrad has one form.
