Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "To Him ascends the good word"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q92: The questioner asks: What is the exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
To Him ascends good speech, and righteous work raises itإِلَيْهِ يَصْعَدُ الْكَلِمُ الطَّيِّبُ وَالْعَمَلُ الصَّالِحُ يَرْفَعُهُ
[Fatir 35:10]
?

A92: To Allah, Mighty and Majestic, ascends the good word from dhikr (remembrance of Allah), tasbih (glorification), tahlil (declaring the oneness of Allah), and takbir (declaring the greatness of Allah); this is part of the good word. Enjoining good and forbidding evil, and calling to Allah—every good word ascends to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and He accepts it and rewards for it. Righteous deeds elevate it; they elevate the good word. This is because words alone are not sufficient without deeds. If good words and righteous deeds are combined, then this elevates the word. As for words without deeds, they do not ascend to Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He.
