Buying a mobile phone from a showroom on the condition that the seller issues a SIM card for him and pays its price for the phone
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 20743 )
Q: I am a person who has mobile devices, and there is someone who wants to buy this phone. He asks me for the following: 1 - A mobile phone. 2 - A SIM card for the phone, knowing that this SIM card is issued in his name, and the seller takes charge of issuing it in the buyer's name, and the seller pays the amount for the phone, and its price is set at (3500) riyals, and the device is given with the SIM card, and the cost is paid in monthly installments up to the limit of (5000) five thousand riyals, or five thousand and five hundred. Guide me, may Allah reward you with good, to the correct method. If there is difficulty in this matter, what should be done regarding this transaction that has already taken place?
A: This mentioned form is not permissible to deal with because it falls under a loan that brings benefit; because its reality is that you are lending him the SIM card fees
for the mobile phone in order for him to buy the mobile device from you, and every loan that brings benefit is riba (usury or interest), so it is obligatory for you to leave dealing in this way and to repent sincerely to Allah from it and not to return to it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
