The second question of Fatwa No. ( 15625 )
Q2: I drove my car to the Noble Mosque and parked my car in
the designated parking areas. When I returned to my car, I found an electrical device on the hood, valued at approximately one hundred and fifty riyals. I did not find any claimants for it. I then displayed it to some people, and they asked me for it. Do I bear any sin or blame regarding it? I ask for your guidance on this matter. May Allah guide you, O Your Eminence. Amen?
A2: If the matter is as described and you do not know the owner of the electrical device, the obligatory course of action regarding lost property in the Haram is to leave it and not take it except with the intention of identifying it. Since you have already taken it, it is obligatory for you to take it back from the person to whom you gave it and to announce it indefinitely. If you are unable to announce it, deliver it to the Grand Court in Makkah, which will hand it over to the committee prepared for lost property in the Haram. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
