Statement from the Committee on the Obligation of Congregational Prayer in Mosques for Men: Congregational Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud
Whoever desires to meet Allah tomorrow as a Muslim, let him guard these prayers where they are called for, for they are among the Sunnahs of guidance. Indeed, Allah has prescribed for your Prophet the Sunnahs of guidance. If you were to pray in your homes as this laggard prays in his home, you would abandon the Sunnah of your Prophet, and if you abandoned the Sunnah of your Prophet, you would go astray. And no man purifies himself and perfects his purification, then proceeds to one of these mosques, but that Allah writes for him a good deed for every step he takes, raises him thereby a degree, and removes from him thereby a sin. And I have seen us, and none lagged behind except a known hypocrite whose hypocrisy was known. And indeed, a man would be brought, supported between two men, until he was placed in the row.

Narrated [Abu Hurairah (RA)]: A blind man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have no guide to take me to the mosque." He [the Prophet (ﷺ)] therefore permitted him (to pray at his house), then when the man turned away the Prophet (ﷺ) called him and asked, "Can you hear the Adhan (call) for prayer?" He answered, "Yes". He [the Prophet (ﷺ)] said, "Then respond to it." [Reported by Muslim].
Bulugh al-Maram 2:307

Whoever hears the call for prayer and and does not come (to the mosque for prayer), his prayer will not be accepted from him, unless he has a (legitimate) excuse.

By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, I have thought of giving orders for fuel wood to be gathered, then giving orders for Salat (prayer) and having the Adhan called, then ordering a man to lead the people (in prayer), then going off to some people (men) who are not present at the prayer and burning down their houses upon them.
Bulugh al-Maram 2:305

al-Bukhari
The most burdensome prayers for the hypocrites are the 'Isha' prayer and the Fajr prayer. If only they knew what (reward) there is in them, they would come to them even if they had to crawl.
Sunan Ibn Majah 797Sahih (Darussalam)

Ibn Taymiyyah
It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error.
[Al-Ahzab 33:36]

So let those beware who dissent from the Prophet's order, lest fitnah strike them or a painful punishment.

O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from remembrance of Allah. And whoever does that - then those are the losers.

(36) [Such niches are] in mosques which Allah has ordered to be raised and that His name be mentioned therein; exalting Him within them in the morning and the evenings (37) [Are] men whom neither commerce nor sale distracts from the remembrance of Allah and performance of prayer and giving of zakah. They fear a Day in which the hearts and eyes will [fearfully] turn about -فِي بُيُوتٍ أَذِنَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تُرْفَعَ وَيُذْكَرَ فِيهَا اسْمُهُ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُ فِيهَا بِالْغُدُوِّ وَالْآصَالِ (36) رِجَالٌ لاَ تُلْهِيهِمْ تِجَارَةٌ وَلاَ بَيْعٌ عَنْ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَإِقَامِ الصَّلاَةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ يَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا تَتَقَلَّبُ فِيهِ الْقُلُوبُ وَالْأَبْصَارُ

But there came after them successors who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil -فَخَلَفَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ أَضَاعُوا الصَّلاَةَ وَاتَّبَعُوا الشَّهَوَاتِ فَسَوْفَ يَلْقَوْنَ غَيًّا
