The Obligation of Congregational Prayer in Mosques

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
After this, we move on to Libya to read a letter sent by one of the brothers. He says—your brother in Allah from Libya—he asks and says: What is the ruling on one who prays in his room, while next to him is a building with a hall where the students pray, having made it a mosque? They do not have a specific imam, and their excuse is that the imam who leads them might be one who shaves his beard. Also, they lengthen the prayer more than necessary.

Answer:
It is obligatory for everyone to pray in the mosques if there are mosques near them where they can hear the adhan. As for if there are no mosques near them, then this man prays with them, prays with the congregation, whether they are students or not, and they put forward the best of them, the one who recites the Qur'an best. They do not put forward one who shaves his beard; he is not put forward even if he is a professor or a teacher. They put forward the one who recites best among those who let their beards grow and are known for good, whether from the teachers or others. It is obligatory for those around them to pray the congregation with them; because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever hears the call for prayer and and does not come (to the mosque for prayer), his prayer will not be accepted from him, unless he has a (legitimate) excuse.من سمع النداء فلم يأت؛ فلا صلاة له إلا من عذر
Bulugh al-Maram 2:308
And the congregation is obligatory. He was about to burn down the houses of people who lagged behind in the congregation. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
