The questioner asked a question, the text of which is as follows: We inform Your Eminity that it has been observed recently in some clinics and private medical centers that certain cosmetic surgical procedures are being performed, including what is called “navel piercing,” which involves piercing the navel and inserting a ring similar to an ear ring, thereby exposing it when attending occasions by wearing a short blouse that ends just above the navel. We hope Your Eminity will kindly inform us of the Islamic ruling on such procedures, especially since some are performed with a piercing gun and without anesthesia.
