The questioner : Her second question: Some people who work in one of the government sectors sell some of the state's property secretly. Is that permissible for them, and is it permissible to buy from them, or not?
The Shaykh : It is forbidden for them to sell anything of the state's money secretly. Their work is considered bad from two aspects. The first aspect is betrayal, and Allah has forbidden betrayal in His saying:[Al-Anfal 8:27].
The second aspect is consuming wealth unjustly. They have no right to any of the government's money except through the prescribed manner. It is obligatory for anyone who knows about these people to report them to the state so that they may return them to the right path and punish them for this act, because this is a forbidden act, may Allah protect us from it. As I said, it is forbidden from two aspects: from the aspect of betrayal and from the aspect of consuming wealth unjustly.
