The Remembrance of Allah After the Closing Salam

The fifth question from Fatwa No. ( 19350 )
Q 5: After performing the obligatory prayer, I do not engage in the remembrance of Allah or the Sunnah except at times. What do you advise me to do?
A 5 : It is prescribed for one who has performed the obligatory prayer to be consistent with the supplications and remembrances prescribed to be said after every obligatory prayer, and to strive to perform the regular voluntary prayers (rawatib) and to accustom himself to doing so. He should endeavor to perform them as they were reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he should seek from Allah the great reward and abundant recompense for doing so. Evidence for this is what was narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
The poor came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "The people of wealth have taken the highest ranks and the abiding pleasure. They pray as we pray and fast as we fast, but they have the advantage of wealth with which they perform Hajj, 'Umrah, and jihad, and they give charity." He said: "Shall I not inform you of something by which you can catch up with those who were before you, and no one after you can catch up with you, and you will be better than those among you except one who does the same? You should say Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, and Allahu Akbar thirty-three times after every prayer.
This hadith was recorded by al-Bukhari in (Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 1, p. 205). In another narration, he said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Shall I not teach you something by which you will catch upon those who have preceded you, and get ahead of those who come after you, only those who do as you do being more excellent than you? They said: Yes, Messenger of Allah.
Sahih Muslim 595a
... etc. This hadith was also recorded, as mentioned previously, by Imam Ahmad in (Musnad, Vol. 2, p. 238; Vol. 5, pp. 167-168), and by Imam Muslim and al-Tirmidhi
and al-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah and Abu Dawud with similar wording. Also, the regular voluntary prayers (rawatib) complete what is lacking in the obligatory prayer, as narrated by Imam Ahmad and Abu Dawud and al-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah and al-Bayhaqi and al-Hakim from Tamim al-Dari from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The first thing for which a servant will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection is his prayer. If it was complete, it will be recorded for him as complete. If it was not complete, Allah will say to His angels: "Look to see if you find any voluntary prayer from My servant, and complete his obligatory prayer with it.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
