The first question of Fatwa No. ( 20123 )
Q 1: Does leaving the mosque for wudu, for example during the Friday sermon, and returning require praying again from the start?
A 1: If a person leaves the mosque to perform wudu because his wudu has been broken, and then returns to the mosque, it is prescribed for him to pray two rak'ahs before sitting down as a greeting to the mosque, due to his entry, falling under the general meaning of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih al-Bukhari 1167 . If he intends with them the sunnah of wudu and the greeting to the mosque, that suffices him for both; because it is prescribed for one who performs wudu to pray two rak'ahs as the sunnah of wudu, as narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Bilal at the time of the Fajr prayer: Sahih al-Bukhari 1149 . Abu 'Abdullah said: "Daf na'lika" means the movement. It was narrated by al-Bukhari in (his Sahih, vol. 2, p. 48). It is permissible for him to perform voluntary prayers with whatever he wishes in addition to that, at times other than the prohibited times, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Sunan Abi Dawud 1295Sahih (Al-Albani) , narrated by the five. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
