The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 18591 )
Q 4: I have heard regarding the supplication in prostration and bowing: Is it said in every rak'ah and prostration, or in a specific prayer?
A 4: Muslim narrated in his (Sahih) from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Bulugh al-Maram 2:179 Therefore, bowing is a place for glorifying Allah the Exalted, not a place for supplication. The one praying should say what has been transmitted of the supplications in some of the dhikr of bowing. Among these is the hadith of the two Shaykhs from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) Sahih al-Bukhari 794 because this dhikr is an addition to that glorification which he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say. The hadith of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) also indicates the prescription of supplication during prostration, with any supplication seeking the good of this world and the Hereafter, and seeking refuge from the evil of both, and that it is among the times when it is likely to be answered. It is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Sunan Abi Dawud 875Sahih (Al-Albani) It was narrated by Muslim in his (Sahih) from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

A 4: Muslim narrated in his (Sahih) from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I have been forbidden to recite the Qur'an while bowing or prostrating; so while in the bowing (position) glorify (the Perfection of) the Rabb (Lord), and while in the prostrating (position) be earnest in supplication, for it is fitting that your supplications may be answered.
ألا وإني نهيت أن أقرأ القرآن راكعًا أو ساجدًا فأما الركوع فعظموا فيه الرب وأما السجود فاجتهدوا في الدعاء فقمن أن يستجاب لكمThe Prophet (ﷺ) used to say in his bowing and prostrations, "Subhanaka l-lahumma Rabbana wa bihamdika; Allahumma ghfir li.'
كان يقول في ركوعه وسجوده: سبحانك اللهم ربنا وبحمدك اللهم اغفر ليThe nearest a servant come to his Lord is when he is prostrating himself, so make supplication often.
أقرب ما يكون العبد من ربه وهو ساجد، فأكثروا الدعاء
