Wiping over the leather sandals
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 18146 )
Q1: When I performed wudu, I wiped over my leather sandals, and I was wearing them without socks. Then, after the wudu, I took them off and went to pray. When I finished the prayer, I put them back on while in a state of purity. So, Your Eminence, I am seeking your ruling on
this matter. Should I wipe during the coming period, for a day and a night, or not?
A1: Wiping is done over leather socks or socks that cover the parts of the feet that are obligatory to wash. It is not permissible to wipe over leather sandals that do not cover the obligatory parts. You must repeat the prayer mentioned above, because the wiping was invalid. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
