Paying the zakah of livestock in kind or in its value

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q3: Some of those who are obligated to pay zakah own large numbers of livestock in the form of fattening and feeding projects, and then sell and trade them. These are owned by individuals, not companies. They ask about how to pay the zakah from them: should it be paid to the collection agents, or should it be paid as zakah on trade goods to the competent authority?
A3: Livestock fattening projects where the owner intends to trade in them are subject to zakah on trade goods, like other types of trade goods. This is done by appraising them when the lunar year of possession has completed, based on the value for which they were purchased, and then paying their zakah.
