Giving Zakah to UNICEF

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 7925 )
Q1: I have some money that will reach the one-year mark. I ask you to inform me about how to pay its zakah, and whether it is permissible to send some of this zakah to the UNICEF organization for the care of children, as well as to the Afghan mujahideen?
A1 : First : It is obligatory to pay one-tenth of a quarter of the gold, silver, paper currency, or trade goods you possess, provided that each of them has reached the nisab (minimum threshold) on its own or by being added to your other zakatable cash or trade goods, and a lunar year has passed over it. Second : It is not permissible to give zakah to the UNICEF organization for the care of children;
because its activities and expenses are not specific to Muslims. However, it is permissible to give it to the Afghan mujahideen through a trustworthy person who will deliver it to them. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
