Those who travel daily the distance of qasr may shorten their prayers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: We are a group of teachers who go every school day from our homes in Makkah al-Mukarramah to our schools, which are about 130 kilometers from Makkah al-Mukarramah , and we return to Makkah al-Mukarramah after the Zuhr prayer—that is, between one and two in the afternoon—and we suffer some hardship in this travel, as our journey takes
about an hour and a half daily, round trip. My question is: How should we perform the Zuhr and 'Asr prayers? Do we shorten both prayers and combine them by advancing 'Asr to Zuhr before entering Makkah , or do we shorten Zuhr before entering Makkah and pray 'Asr in its time after entering Makkah , or do we neither shorten nor combine, and this is not considered a journey that warrants combining and shortening? We hope for a fatwa on this matter; because the teachers shorten the Zuhr prayer before entering the boundaries of Makkah by five kilometers, and they combine 'Asr with Zuhr by advancing it, and they go to their homes at two in the afternoon and sleep through the 'Asr prayer, claiming that it is a journey and that they have the right to combine, and that it is better for them to take the dispensation. Also, they are tired and sleep and do not wake up for the prayer. May Allah reward you with the best reward.

A: It is permissible for the traveler to shorten the prayer as a recommendation, and it is permissible for him to combine the two prayers, especially if the travel and the distance are significant. The distance mentioned by the questioners in their inquiry is a distance that exceeds the distance for shortening. Based on this, it is permissible for them to take the dispensations of travel, such as shortening, combining, and breaking the fast. However, it is better for them to pray the 'Asr prayer in full in its time with the congregation in the mosque, as long as they arrive in their town before its time begins.
