The third question of Fatwa No. ( 20768 )
Q3: While I was lying in the hospital, I did not pray for two weeks, as I thought that one who cannot control the two passages does not have a valid prayer. After that, I prayed without performing tayammum for two and a half months, while I was in the hospital, and I made up the missed prayers along with the obligatory ones until I thought I had made them all up. What is the ruling on this action? May Allah reward you.
A3 : It is obligatory for the sick person to pray according to his condition, and he must not leave the prayer as long as his mind is sound; because Allah the Exalted said:
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[At-Taghabun 64:16]
, so whatever prayer you left and did not make up, it is obligatory for you to hasten to make it up in order and at one time according to your ability, and it is not permissible to distribute it with the obligatory prayers. And what you made up is valid, if Allah wills. As for purification, it is obligatory for you according to what is possible; if you are able to purify with water, it is necessary, otherwise you perform tayammum with earth. If you are not able to purify with water or earth, then you pray without wudu or tayammum.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
