Is it permissible for a man to leave the prayer for five days because he was ill in the hospital and thought his action was permissible, and he makes them up later at home?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A questioner says, O honorableThe Shaykh : I was hospitalized for five days and I was tired, so I left the prayer during these five days because I feared I would be in pain, even though I was able to pray. However, I was afraid of the pain, but I consider it permissible for me. I want to make up these prayers at home. Is that permissible for me, or what is required of me now? And what is your advice to the brothers who visit the sick or have sick relatives in such circumstances?

The Shaykh : It is obligatory for the sick person who is of sound mind to pray the prayer according to his condition,
So fear Allah as much as you are able فاتقوا الله ما استطعتم
[At-Taghabun 64:16]
, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to 'Imran ibn Husayn:
offer prayer in standing condition; if you are unable to do so, then in sitting condition: if you are then at your side صل قائما فإن لم تستطع فقاعدا فإن لم تستطع فعلى جنب
Sunan Abi Dawud 952Sahih (Al-Albani)
. So it is obligatory for the sick person, as long as his mind is sound, to pray. He prays standing; if he cannot, then sitting; if he cannot, then on his side, nodding his head. If he is unable to do that, it was said he nods with his eyes, and it was said he prays with his heart. As for leaving the prayer because he is tired while he is able to perform it, this is an error, a great error. Then, Allah may make it easy for the sick person in a third way, which is to combine two prayers, between the Zuhr and 'Asr prayers, or between the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers, if it is difficult for him to pray each prayer at its time. As for leaving the prayer, this is forbidden and not permissible. So this brother, the questioner, should repent to Allah for what he did. Yes.

The questioner : Does he make up the prayer? The five days?

The Shaykh : He prayed it now? Does he not say he prayed it?

The questioner : He says, "But I consider it permissible for me to make up these prayers."

The Shaykh : Yes.
