The funeral prayer for an absent deceased

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of fatwa number ( 17882 )
Q 2: The funeral prayer for an absent deceased is not valid, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) only prayed for al-Najashi ; because Allah depicted al-Najashi before him as an honor to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?
A 2 : The funeral prayer for an absent person is permissible if the deceased is of significance in Islam; due to the action of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when the news of the death of al-Najashi , the king of Abyssinia , reached him. He lined up his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and led them in the funeral prayer. The principle is that the funeral prayer for al-Najashi (may Allah be pleased with him) was not specific to him, so one may pray for others who are of significance in Islam. And what your teacher said, that he was like al-Najashi before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), is a false statement with no basis in truth. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
