The ruling on women praying over a deceased person as an absent prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible for women to pray over a deceased person as an absent prayer? Knowing that the deceased passed away a month and a half ago, or something similar, and also knowing that they were never able to attend to pray over him?

Answer:
There is scholarly disagreement regarding the prayer for the absent person. The closest and most apparent position based on the evidence is that one does not pray for the absent person unless he is known for something that benefits the Muslims, such as a great scholar who benefited the Muslims, or a ruler who benefited the Muslims, just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for the Negus; because he benefited the Muslims, he embraced Islam and benefited the Muslims who emigrated to him. So, one prays for him as an absent prayer.
Not every deceased person is prayed for as an absent person; rather, it is for one who has fame in Islam, has a standing in Islam, and has benefited the Muslims, such as a scholar, a ruler, or a prominent figure who benefited the Muslims. There is no harm in praying for him as an absent prayer, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did for the Negus. When the news of his death reached him, he informed the Muslims, and they prayed for him as an absent prayer. He (peace and blessings be upon him) did not pray for the general public. So, if the one who died is famous for knowledge and calling to Allah, or famous for benefiting the Muslims with his wealth, status, and benefit to the Muslims, such as a sultan, a ruler, or someone similar to them who has a standing in Islam.
If the Muslims pray for him as an absent prayer, then there is no harm in women praying for him as well, just as the men pray for him. Yes.
