The Ghusl on Friday
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 14151 )
Q: Is the ghusl on Friday obligatory or recommended, and does wudu suffice for it, given that it causes hardship in winter due to the severe cold? We ask for a clear response for the general benefit, and we ask Allah to preserve us and you, for He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive.
A: Friday is the best of the days of the week, and on it the Muslims gather for the Friday prayer and to listen to the sermon. It is recommended for the one who attends Friday to be clean, performing ghusl so that odors are removed from his body, and to use perfume. If he performs wudu
only, that suffices for him; for it is established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 497Hasan (Darussalam) And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
