The second question of Fatwa No. ( 14880 )
Q2: We know that every person has a specific height, yet some of the brothers insist that the knees (plural of knee) of the worshippers after bowing must be on the same level, while others hold that the foreheads of the worshippers after prostration must be on the same level, and there is a third opinion that the heels of the worshippers must be on the same level. So what is it
that agrees with the rules of prayer in the Shari'ah?
J2: The alignment between the worshippers is at the shoulders and the heels; foral-Bukhariin (his Sahih), and he titled the chapter: (The chapter on placing shoulder to shoulder and foot to foot in the row), then he narrated fromAnaswho said: (One of us - meaning: the Companions - would place his shoulder against his brother's shoulder and his foot against his foot), andAbu Dawudin the chapter (Straightening the Rows) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 666Sahih (Al-Albani). Ibn Hajarsaidin al-Fath: he graded it as authenticIbn Khuzaymahand al-Hakim, and when sitting in prayer, alignment is not by the knees; because people differ in height, but alignment is by the shoulders and heels as mentioned above. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
