Prayer Between the Pillars

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 19578 )
Q: We have a mosque that we want to tile, and I have heard that it is not permissible to pray between the pillars , and I want to avoid the rows between
the pillars. What is the ruling on praying between the pillars? And when we wanted to renovate the mosque, one of the brothers came to us and said: One of the students of knowledge says: It is not permissible, or it is disliked, to pray in the mihrab; meaning: it is disliked to pray inside the mihrab. Is this correct?

A : It is disliked to pray between the pillars if they cut off the rows, except out of necessity, such as if the mosque becomes too narrow for the worshippers and they need to pray between the pillars, in which case the dislike is removed. Likewise, it is disliked for the imam to pray inside the arch (i.e., the mihrab); because most of the followers do not see him, so they do not properly follow him. However, this does not prevent installing a mihrab or renovating the mosque. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
