Following the Imam in the Sacred Mosque via Television

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 17069 )
Q: Is it permissible for a man residing in Nigeria to follow the Imam of the Haram in Makkah al-Mukarramah in the Tarawih prayer via television, placing it in front of him while facing the Qiblah, since he can see and hear the Imam’s actions, given that the Tarawih prayer in Makkah coincides with a time when voluntary prayer is permissible for us in Nigeria ? May Allah preserve you.
A : It is not permissible to follow the Imam in the Sacred Mosque or any other mosque via television. The prescribed manner for congregational prayer is for the follower to be behind the Imam with their rows connected, as the Muslims were in their prayer behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
