Q: I am a young Muslim – and praise be to Allah – accustomed to praying the congregational prayer in the mosque in Egypt , and due to my injured feet, I used to pray in the first row sitting on a chair; because the brothers in Egypt used to facilitate for me praying in the first row, and when I came to Abu Dhabi
and I am unable to pray standing, I brought a chair to the mosque, but there is a problem, which is that I stumble when trying to stand in the first or second row due to the crowd or my arriving late at times, so I placed the chair in a fixed spot on the side of the mosque, and it became customary for the worshippers to leave this spot and the chair for me, but I am praying behind the rows, so am I one of those who prays alone behind the rows?
A : You pray with the congregation according to your ability by placing the chair you pray on at the end of the row that you catch up with, and it is not permissible for you to pray alone behind the rows; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Bulugh al-Maram 2:327 narrated by Ibn Hibban . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
