The Prayer of Women: How a Muslim Woman Prays

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 19478 )
Q1: We request clarification of how a Muslim woman prays , and what is the difference between her prayer and a man's prayer in terms of form?
A1: There is no difference between the prayer of a man and the prayer of a woman in terms of words and actions, but it is obligatory for the woman to cover her entire body in prayer, except for the face if there are no non-mahram men present with her; due to the generality of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
offer your prayers in the way you saw me offering my prayersصلوا كما رأيتموني أصلي
Sahih al-Bukhari 6008
, and this command includes both men and women, and Allah the Exalted said:
There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent patternلَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ
[Al-Ahzab 33:21]
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
