Women Praying in Congregation Behind an Imam Who Recites Aloud in the Prayers of Aloud Recitation
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of fatwa number ( 19813 )
Q1: We are female students living in a university dormitory. Is it permissible for us to pray behind a female imam who recites aloud in the prayers with loud recitation, and for us to say "Ameen" behind her? Knowing that men do not hear us, please cite the Qur'an, the Sunnah, and the statements of scholars as much as possible?
A1: It is permissible for women to pray in congregation, with their imam standing in the middle of them. There is no harm in reciting aloud in the prayers with loud recitation if men do not hear it, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Umm Warakah to lead the people of her house in prayer, and likewise saying "Ameen" if the situation is as described. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
