The Obligation of Prayer and the Reward of the Five Daily Prayers
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 19348 )
Q 2: Some people say: The five prayers were originally fifty in number, and for every ten there is a reward. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reduced them by the command of Moses (peace be upon him), so they were reduced to the five that are upon us now. Did the reward for the 45 prayers that were dropped fall away, leaving only the reward for the five that remain? And some say: Rather, the prayer was only five, with a reward of ten for each, so its daily reward became fifty; as evidenced by the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Yunus 10:64] .
A 2: The five prayers are equivalent to fifty prayers in terms of reward and virtue; because a good deed is multiplied tenfold. Praise be to Allah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
