The Ruling on the One Who Abandons Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 18164 )
Q 1: I read in one of the books about ( the ruling on the one who abandons prayer ) that he is a disbeliever who does not marry from among the Muslims, is not buried in the graves of the Muslims, and is not prayed over when he dies. So, if this person is in a state of heedlessness regarding obedience and disobedience to Allah temporarily, is he like any other person who sins in some other religious aspects?
A 1: The one who abandons prayer intentionally is a disbeliever according to the correct of the two opinions of the scholars, even if he does not deny its obligation. As for if he denies its obligation, he is a disbeliever by the consensus of the Muslims, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Between the servant and disbelief and shirk (associating partners with Allah) is the abandonment of prayerبين العبد وبين الكفر والشرك ترك الصلاة
narrated by Muslim , and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is prayer; so whoever leaves it, he has committed Kufr.العهد الذي بيننا وبينهم الصلاة فمن تركها فقد كفر
Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam)
reported by Imam Ahmad and the people of the four Sunan books with a sound chain, and Allah the Exalted said regarding the people of the Fire:
(42) [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" (43) They will say, "We were not of those who prayed,مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِي سَقَرَ (42) قَالُوا لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ الْمُصَلِّينَ
[Al-Muddaththir 74:42-43]
the verses. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
