Q: There are people who do not perform the five obligatory prayers at all, except for the Friday prayer. What is the ruling on one of them who dies, and is it obligatory for the Muslims to bury him and perform the funeral prayer for him?
A3: If the situation is as described, then one who leaves it off while denying its obligation is a disbeliever by the consensus of the Muslims. As for one who leaves it off out of laziness while believing in its obligation, he is a disbeliever according to the correct of the two opinions of the scholars; due to the established evidence indicating this. According to this correct opinion, the Muslims do not wash him, nor do they perform the funeral prayer for him, nor is he buried in the Muslim cemeteries; rather, he is buried in a specific place far from the Muslim cemeteries. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
