The second question of Fatwa No. ( 20251 )
Q2: The dog is impure, so what is the impure part of it? Is it the saliva or something else? And when must a person wash his hands seven times, one of which with earth?
A2 : The dog is impure in its entirety, including its dung, sweat, and saliva. It is obligatory to wash anything it has soiled, such as a vessel or other items, with water until it becomes pure. As for saliva specifically, it is obligatory to wash anything it has touched seven times with water, one of which with earth or a substitute for it, such as soap or other cleansers. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Muslim 279d It was narrated by Muslim in his (Sahih). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
