Exalting the Mention of Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Your Eminence finds enclosed a picture of a design on the floor of one of the shops named: (K4) in the city of Lyon in France, and the design is of the flags of the countries participating in the World Cup football tournament, which naturally includes Saudi Arabia, the problem lies in the fact that our flag is the flag of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and it bears the two testimonies of faith, and it is placed on the ground where feet tread on it, as in the second picture. Yes, we do not say that this is intentional, especially if we know that the procedures for producing footballs with these flags are involved. What is required is a simple matter and not impossible. If Your Eminence were to ask the President General of the General Commission for Youth Care to address the International Federation (FIFA) and explain to them the importance of the flag for us, and that our creed does not allow in any way for the flag to be lowered, let alone for it to be trampled upon, explaining that to them while providing alternatives, such as writing ( The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ) on the flags
instead of the two testimonies of faith, or placing the two swords and the palm tree... etc. All of these are acceptable solutions, and I see the need for swift initiative before the balls or souvenirs are produced, which could be dishonored and contain the word that is dear to the hearts of all Muslims. To clear our conscience and convey the matter to those concerned (the scholars), I have written to you, and I am full of hope for your Islamic zeal.

A: It is not permissible to tread with the feet on what is written with the two testimonies of faith: the testimony that there is no god but Allah and the testimony that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; because of the disrespect therein to the name of Allah and the name of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the message. And the competent authority in the state must address this issue and deal with it in an appropriate manner.
