The Appropriate Duration for Completing the Recitation of the Qur'an

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 13408 )
Q: Is it true that one who does not complete the recitation of the Qur'an in thirty days is considered to have abandoned the Qur'an?
A : It is prescribed for the Muslim to recite the Book of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) frequently; because of His saying:
And I am commanded to be of the Muslims [those who submit to Allah] (92) And to recite the Qur'an.وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ (91) وَأَنْ أَتْلُوَ الْقُرْآنَ
[An-Naml 27:91-92]
, and it is prescribed that one not exceed one month in completing the recitation of the Qur'an; due to the practice of the Salaf. However, if one completes it in more than a month, he is not considered to have abandoned the recitation of the Qur'an. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
