The second question of Fatwa No. ( 18449 )
Q 2: In our district of al-Harth in the region of Jizan , when burying the deceased, the soil is thrown over him without a barrier or obstacle being placed between the grave pit and the grave, where the soil is pressed directly onto the deceased. Is this correct? We asked one of those who lead people in prayer and supervise the burial of the dead about this, and they said: This is a correct method. We are in great need of the correct answer. May Allah reward you?
A 2 : It is not permissible to throw soil over the deceased without placing him in a grave pit or the like, and sealing it with mud, stones, or the like, except in cases of dire necessity. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
